Uber and PayPal, in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, gave startups an opportunity to market their ideas to keynote speakers at the international LeWeb Paris conference. The campaign, dubbed Pitch in Style, chose from a large group of submissions and selected 18 winning startups to take part. The startups were given 15 minutes of 1-on-1 time with a conference keynote speaker as they took a ride in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. The event was designed to promote Uber’s new partnership with PayPal, which can now be activated through the ride service’s app, as well as pay homage to Uber’s launch at the conference only five years ago. 2013 was a great year for the San Francisco based company, which entered 49 new markets and, with this partnership, is seeking to cross the Atlantic.
