The service promises an Uber-like laundry efficiency for busy city-dwellers. With a slogan like “Life over laundry” and the app stating “you can’t put a price on freedom,” it’s clear that Tide is capitalizing on people’s desire to outsource chores. Testing the Chicago market for such a service is a smart move, considering how popular other outsourcing delivery services have been – such as Instacart for groceries or Postmates for restaurants and sundry items. While a similar P&G service in 2000 was ahead of the curve and launched in the wrong market, the timing and location of Tide Spin points to greater success.
