Netflix recently launched a campaign that encourages customers to create “DIY inventions” to enhance the Netflix viewing experience.
One invention that has caught attention is a pair of socks that detect when someone has fallen asleep while watching a movie or show. Since the intuitive socks are not on the market, Netflix has provided step-by-step instructions illustrating how these can be made at home. The how-to content also includes instructions on knitting socks, creating a sleep detection system and programming the system to your personal Netflix account. Netflix even threw in some witty knitting pattern designs for those wanting to “show devotion to a favorite show”. This activation was a creative, engaging way to encourage their audience to participate with the brand outside of binge watching.
