Macy’s is enhancing the mobile shopping experience through revolutionary iOS technology – 3D touch.
For years, shoppers have been swiping, pinching and tapping our phones to shop mobily, but with 3D touch, consumers are now able to experience products through pop up windows – eliminating the need for shoppers to click through multiple pages. With this new touch feature, which is only available on 6s and 6s Plus iPhones, consumers can get to the products they want faster, which could lead to more loyal mobile purchase behavior – something I’m sure Macy’s would love to see.
In addition to incorporating this piece of Apple technology, Macy’s has also added store locator and checklist features for Apple Watch users. Although this may seem simplistic, it’s an innovative way to create a more personalized experience, particularly through cross-device integration (i.e. shopping lists created on mobile app will show up on watch to check-off as they walk throughout the store). Without a doubt, Macy’s will continue to evolve its smartwatch strategy as they understand more about that shopping behavior. All in all, Macy’s is leading the retail pack to close the loop between mobile and in-store shopping by giving shoppers easier access to products through the devices that are closest to them (literally and figuratively).
