West Elm recently found an impressive way to reach 3.8 million Instagram users with a small line of felt holiday ornaments created in the likeness of six celebrity animals.

The Insta-famous critters include Chibi & Kokoro, Nala Cat and Manny the Frenchie, who have very large and passionate followings. West Elm wisely gave the pet celeb owners a reason to share out photos of the ornaments and encourage followers to purchase by donating $1 of each purchase to the ASPCA. They are appealing even further to the pet-obsessed by offering dog-friendly family photo sessions in-store on November 5, and donating $1 to the ASPCA for every photo hashtagged with #westelmxaspca.

West Elm isn’t a pet-centric retailer, but they’ve come up with a relevant way to combine animals, social media and product development to show an organic fan base that they have a soft spot for pets during the holiday season.
