Holiday Inn’s “Stay Smart” campaign has got a lot of people talking with the launch of its touring Pancake Selfie Express.
Knowing that its guests are “smart travelers who pay for everything they need and nothing that they don’t,” said VP Jennifer Gribble, Holiday Inn chose to promote its free breakfast since they found it was one of the most influential factors when deciding where to stay. Housed in a giant blue truck with five “Stack Station” pancake machines, the Pancake Selfie express launched September 2 and plans to travel over 4,000 miles, visiting nine cities along the way. Consumers simply take a selfie using their phones, which are then uploaded to a laser printer that imprints their photo onto a pancake.
Combining the two things that everyone loves most – pancakes and selfies – the Pancake Selfie Express is an effort to boost brand awareness on-site, as well as on its social platforms via #PancakeSelfie and staysmart.com. “The tour has helped us increase our social reach through the viral aspect of people wanting to share their pancake selfies,” Gribble says.
