To Celebrate the Simpsons 600th episode FXX is kicking off a 13-day long Simpsons marathon on Thanksgiving.

The marathon is joined by snapchat-themed filters and promotions, as well as videos, and a mini campaign to foster excitement and build anticipation throughout the marathon. The network tied in with the holiday festivities by focusing on the ‘shared communal experience’ of both Thanksgiving and watching the Simpsons together. In order to create continuous engagement, three Snapchat filters will be released when the marathon begins and four more Snapcodes will be shared throughout the experience that unlock exclusive filters. The last four will be treated as Easter eggs and released an unknown times.

In addition, they are launching a mini campaign, the “Donut Experiment” which will follow a man as he attempts to eat one donut for every episode aired (that’s one donut every 30 minutes for 13 days!) As Ethan Adelman, vp of on-air promotions at FX networks describes it, “that touches on the ideas of binging and glutton that seem to resonate with the Simpsons and also parallel with the idea of Thanksgiving.” As with any marathon, the Simpsons are leveraging multiple channels to keep fans engaged throughout an extended period of time.
