In tandem with their #BeautifullyPredictable campaign and International Coffee Day, Costa Coffee broadcasted a “pour off” on Periscope on September 29.

The live competition showed baristas creating coffee art in the foam of flat whites (espresso shots topped with micro-foam), and asked viewers to vote on their favorite designs.

While the live feed moved pretty slowly – it takes time to make a good cup of coffee – it did a great job of highlighting baristas, who are the heroes of the #BeautifullyPredictable campaign. During one lull, one of the barista competitors showed off a flat white florette design with coffee beans tattooed on her wrist. It’s moments like that, where the passion and personality of the brand shine through that shows how big of a role Periscope can play in building brand equity.
