Amazon.com Inc., alters the retail experience with technology that eliminates checkouts and scanners at its new Amazon Go store in Seattle.

According to Amazon’s launch video posted on Youtube, customers will scan the newly-launched Amazon Go app on their phones at the entrance of the store, then continue to shop as the technology tracks what items they pick up, or return, in real-time. Once the shopper is finished, they can exit the store and their Amazon account will be charged automatically.

This no-lines, no-fuss technology is an attempt by Amazon to solidify its place in the world of retail, both online and in-person. While the new technology could bring an era of ultra-convenience shopping, the store is already getting flack for eliminating the need of real workers. The 1,800-square-foot store will open to the public next year.
