To bring awareness to MS, the National MS Society (NMMS) is launching a social campaign that uses virtual reality to reconnect patients with hobbies they can no longer pursue and encourages all MS sufferers to share their stories with the #WeAreStrongerThanMS hashtag.

The campaign includes two, short-length videos of a dancer and a surfer, each virtually experiencing the physical activities they love but can no longer participate in at the same levels due to the debilitating effects of MS. The films stir emotions of joy, compassion and determination – both for the video star and the viewer.

It’s compelling content because it’s real. It’s honest. Go figure – a marketing technology that really makes a difference in people’s lives.

As an industry, we talk about the role of utility in digital applications and experiences. Perhaps, our view of “utility” should be broadened.
