Sony Pictures decided to remake the hit movie GhostBusters and turned to Snapchat for some help to promote the new film.
The one-day campaign was the very first on Snapchat that utilized both sides of a phone’s built-in camera lens. Using the front facing camera, users who use the lens functionality are able to shoot Slimer, a character from the film. When using the rear-facing angle, green slime triggers and falls down the screen when you take a snap. Additionally, Ghostbusters also used a vertical video ad within the discover tab. It will be interesting to see if more brands try and use both sides of the camera to help users create content going forward.
