GranataPet’s Interactive Billboards

April, 2011

GranataPet, a pet food brand created in Germany, has begun an interactive advertising campaign using out-of-home billboards and Foursquare. When dog owners see a billboard introducing the new GranataPet brand, they can check in on Foursquare to redeem dog treats that automatically come out of a dispenser at the bottom of the billboard. The campaign will not only get dogs to try the snacks, but also introduce the owners to the new brand, and hopefully generate demand for the GranataPet brand at local area pet stores.

Dog Food Billboard Gives Samples With Checkins

March, 2011

GranataPet, a German Dog Food maker, has launched a billboard that dispenses samples of its treats after someone checks in to the site using Foursquare on their phone.  A box on the billboard registers the checkin at the base of the billboard and signals for the treat container to dispense a sample.  The sample then is dispensed into a dogfood bowl for a the passing by dog to try.  This promotion is an example of how companies are integrating social media into billboard advertisements to maintain their relevancy and give new life to the traditional form of advertising. GranataPet created a video explaining the promotion which can be seen on Mashable.
